About Me
Dr. Ana Rupio
Clinical Psychologist
I am a clinical psychologist who graduated from the University of Lisbon, specializing in Integrative Cognitive-Behavioral Psychology.
In addition to my foundational education, I have been focusing on the areas of mood disorders, anxiety, trauma, and attachment. I am also deepening my expertise in parts work, somatic therapies, internal family systems and third-generation therapies.
At present, I work with both adolescents and adults.
In my practice, I seek to support individuals in their personal and interpersonal journeys, or during challenging life periods. I believe that each person is unique and possesses intrinsic worth; while we share commonalities as human beings, our differences are equally precious.
I consider it an honor to assist clients in processing their emotions and making meaningful life changes—ultimately transforming vulnerabilities into strengths. There's always room to celebrate victories along the way, and I aim to promote a journey marked by appreciation, curiosity and self-compassion.
On a personal note, outside of my clinical work, I am passionate about literature and writing, the beauty of nature and animals, and the liberating experience of movement and dance. I believe in the transformative power of love and the innate wisdom of our bodies.

Psychotherapy
What to expect
Psychotherapy is grounded in the meeting between two human beings in their authenticity, developed in service of attending to the needs and interests of the patient.
The therapeutic work, based on this accepting relationship, is a co-created phenomenon, meaning we work together to achieve the goals that resonate with the patient and foster their well-being.
The therapist's mission is not to cure, but to care. This is attained through creating a safe space where unshared pains can be voiced for the first time, helping each individual find the strength within themselves to be reborn.
As human beings, we possess immense capacity for change and resilience. We are also social beings with a need for connection, validation, and acceptance. Often, the therapeutic relationship serves as a corrective experience, providing the patient with elements they may not have received in other relationships throughout their life.
Regardless of the specific reason that brings you to therapy, there is a true transformative power in choosing to be welcomed and respected in a dedicated space created for you—where you are genuinely heard and can feel safe to be vulnerable.

Integrative Cognitive-Behavioral Approach: what does it mean?
The Cognitive-Behavioral psychological approach focuses on restructuring beliefs and behaviors, providing strategies and tools to empower individuals to face their difficulties and challenges. This means that in addition to what's offered during sessions, we work to ensure that the changes manifest in real life outside the therapy room.
Starting from the patient’s perceptions and beliefs, while respecting them, the individual is guided in their own truth regarding what is most important and what needs to happen for change to occur, thereby empowering them: the patient becomes the heroic main protagonist, and the psychotherapist takes on the role of a humble, yet wise and reliable adventure partner.
The term "integrative" signifies that each intervention is tailored to the individual. This means that the intervention will not only draw from cognitive-behavioral principles but will also encompass broader principles of change that are universal across all psychological approaches, which have been empirically studied and validated.
It will incorporate specific techniques from various approaches, tailored to the individual needs of the patient.
My practice
At the center of my practice is a relationship based on care, understanding, and respect, where the principle of confidentiality is upheld. I work with a somatic therapeutic approach, listening to both the mind and the body. As a psychologist, I feel it is my mission to care for and contribute to the mental health of the society I am a part of. Because I advocate for the accessibility of psychotherapy to the population, I work with affordable session rates.
